There are 10 phosphorite horizons in total in east Yunnan Province, such as: Nazhang, Meishucun, Qiongzhusi, Tangchi, Hongshiya (or Meitan), Niuguandang, Haikou, Donggangling, Liujiang and Falang formations. Among them, Meishucun Formation of Lower Cambrian and Donglinggang Formation of Middle Devonian are the most economical horizon. Falang Formation is a newly discovered phosphorite horizon at which industrial ore bodies were found at Shelong Village, Qiubei County. This paper briefly introduces distribution of the lithology, typical deposits and summarizes the geological characteristics that control the ore.
