The genus Sihongotherium from Sihong County of Jiangsu Province was discovered by Prof. Liu Guanbang and Zhang Chenghua in 1993, they speculated on the belonging of the genus was Anthracotheriidae. According to the known data, there were seven generas including 10 species in the Anthracotheriidae. They were mainly distributed in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Guanxi and Yunnan in China and alive during Eocene to Oligocene. However, Sihongotherium sihongensu discovered by Prof. Liu and Zhang in 1993 was only found in Miocene of Sihong County, Jiangsu Province. Either Miocene or Pliocene, the age ascription of Liuhe and Yuhuatai Formations was in varied opinions. The discovery of Sihongotherium sp. could be an important fossil basis for the corroboration that Liuhe and Yuhuatai Formations belonging to Miocene.
