Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin production negatively correlates with HK-2 cell impairment: Evaluation of NGAL as a marker of toxicity in HK-2 cells
Production of the NGAL lipocalin in HK-2 cells is described. The human kidney 2 (HK-2) cells can produce NGAL continuously. The NGAL production correlates negatively with cell viability. Gene expression of NGAL is not increased after HK-2 cells impairment. NGAL production could be used as a new specific marker of HK-2 cell damage.
