Magnetic structure around the interface between IrMn and NiFe layers is proposed.
XMCD is element-specific with high resolution to probe the magnetic moments.
Mechanism relies on spin moments of Fe and Ni change differently with AFM thickness.
Strong exchange coupling between Fe and AFM layer around the interface is found.
Weaker exchange coupling between Ni and AFM layer around the interface is observed.
