Halogen bonding (XB), an emerging noncovalent interaction, has been recently exploited as an important tool in crystal engineering.
The recent advances in high-dimensional supramolecular architectures based on halogen bonding are summarized.
Some perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in this promising research area are also shown.
