The geometric optimization of the DEMO WCLL blanket module first wall has been performed, maximizing the heat flux it may safely undergo.

Attention has been focused on the FW flat concept endowed with square cooling channels.

A theoretical-computational approach based on the finite element method (FEM) has been followed, adopting a qualified commercial FEM code.

Four optimized FW configurations have been found to safely withstand a heat flux up to 2 MW/m2 fulfilling all the rules prescribed by safety codes.
