Synthesis of ruthenium(II) complexes bearing rigid N′NN′-typed pincer ligands. Catalytic dehydrogenation of primary alcohols to carboxylic acids and H2. Higher yields and higher selectivity obtained in the homogeneous alcohol-CsOH system. Quantitative yield of benzoic acid and TON∼10000 achieved in 24 h.
