Measurement and transmission of steering wheel angle based on FlexRay

FlexRay is one of the next communication standard of automobile network system. Compare with traditional CAN bus, it has many advantages like dererministic communication and support fault-tolerance. This paper chooses steerby- wire (SBW) system as application object of FlexRay bus, show that FlexRay is better than CAN in safety-critical system. First, analyze the characteristics of FlexRay and desigan a simplified SBW system.Then, Measure the steering wheel angle and design FlexRay communication network, include the configuration of key parameters and distribution of tasks for two nodes of SBW system. Finally, the experiment of simplified SBW was performed. The experiment result shows that the characteristics of FlexRay are more suitable than CAN in safety-critical system.
