Biomass conversion and expansion factors for a chronosequence of young naturally regenerated silver birch (Betula pendula Roth) stands growing on post-agricultural sites

We calculated BCEFs for pure young silver birch stands on abandoned farmlands. BCEFs were not constant and varied distinctly with stand age and biometrical traits. BCEF values decrease with stand age, height, diameter and volume towards the EBPs. Above EBPs there is no effect of age, height, diameter and volume on BCEFs. Top height of trees might be a good biomass predictor for young birch stands.
