High reactive sulfobetaine was designed to fabricate antibacterial textiles. Non-leaching antibacterial textile surfaces were obtained via a covalent binding. Durable antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were easily obtained. The obtained antibacterial surfaces enhanced the textile hydrophilicity. The obtained antibacterial surfaces showed no cytotoxicity and skin irritation.
