The authors think that this work is interesting for the following reasons: Is the first study that introduced in the statistical analysis two control groups, a healthy population and another one with the same cardiac defects as DM patients. Is the first study where the troponin levels were analyzed by both the high-sensitivity troponins assays (hs-cTnT Roche and hs-cTnI Abbott). Is the first study that included a clinically homogeneous cohort of about 60 consecutive DM patients (Myotonic Dystrophy are a rare genetic diseases), all coming from the same country.
