Pressure filtration of tailings was improved by stirred media grinding. Over 60% reduction in the specific cake resistance was obtained in the best case. Specific cake resistance increased when the grinding conditions were unsuitable. Filtration was facilitated by narrow particle size distribution. Particle shape factors were not able to explain the filtration results clearly.
