A mediated personality-driving behaviors-accident association model was examined. Personality traits had direct effects on risky driving behaviors. Risky driving behaviors mediated the effects of personality traits on accident risk. Driving experience and risky driving behaviors directly predicted accident risk. There was little gender difference except females with more driving lapses.
