Multifaceted approach supports midwives’ role in perinatal mental health care. Such approaches include education, clinical supervision and debriefing. Education need to challenge cultural attitudes to perinatal mental health. Perinatal mental health screening and assessment tools support midwives’ decisions. Midwives require access to local perinatal mental health referral pathways.
