Cavitation in sulphuric acid with spatially separated sonoluminescence emission colours.

High-speed imaging reveals different cavitation bubble populations in the differently coloured zones.

“Blue” bubbles are slow and collapse spherically, “red” bubbles move fast and show liquid jetting during collapse.

Findings support liquid injection by jetting as promoter of sodium sonoluminescence.
