We identify ∼830 Ma back-arc type bimodal volcanic rocks in the Jiangnan orogen.

The basalts derived from a MORB-like source modified by subduction related fluid.

The rhyolites formed by remelting of crust initiated by intrusion of mafic magma.

The basement sequences of entire Jiangnan orogen formed in back-arc basin setting.

Final collision between the Yangtze and Cathaysia blocks happened at 820–810 Ma.
