Effects of interstitial impurities on grain boundary cohesion in V were studied.

Interstitial C, N, B, and Fe atoms strengthen the GB cohesion.

Interstitial O and S are strong embrittlers as well Si and Mo are weak embrittlers.

Charge densities and structural changes provide well explanation for their effects.
