A novel three-dimensional supramolecular framework with formulas, [Cu(H₂btc)₂(bpy)]_n (1) was obtained by Cu(NO₃)₂, 4,4¡ä-bipyridine (4,4¡ä-bpy) and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H₃btc) under hydrothermal condition. Through hydrogen bonds 1 affords an unprecedented topology architecture, viz. supramolecular (4, 4)-connected net with (6.7⁴.10)(6⁴.7.8) tcj-4,4-Cccm topology and three-fold interpenetration.
