Magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of CoGaxFe2-xO4 (0 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.3) have been studied. Maximum magnetostriction is obtained at lower magnetic fields for the substituted compositions. All Ga-substituted compositions show higher strain sensitivity at low magnetic fields. λmax and [dλ/dH]max of CoGa0.1Fe1.9O4 are enhanced by magnetic field annealing.
