Thorium ions were removed from aqueous solutions by modified magnetite nanoparticle.

The effects of process variables on adsorption capacity were investigated by RSM.

Thermodynamic parameters showed that the adsorption was endothermic and spontaneous.

The equilibrium data for the adsorption of Thorium followed the Langmuir isotherm.

The experimental kinetic data were described by the pseudo-second-order equation.
