TiN @NiCo2O4 coaxial nanowires are synthesized by a facile method.

The as-prepared TiN @NiCo2O4 coaxial nanowires possesses mesoporous structure and large specific surface area.

The composite displays a high specific capacitance, i.e. 1200 F g−1 at current density of 2.0 A g−1.

It also keeps stable electrochemical performance at wide temperature range of 25–65 °C.
