Antiparasitic, physiological and histological effects of the essential oil of Lippia origanoides (Verbenaceae) in native freshwater fish Colossoma macropomum
Anti-helminthic activity of the essential oil of Lippia origanoides against monogeneans of tambaqui was dose-dependent. Lippia origanoides killed the parasites (100%) after 30 min in the in vitro trial. Parasites exposed to tank water died after 9 h in the in vitro immobilization test. Lippia origanoides causes gills histopathological alterations.
