Developed and validated an early warning score (EWS) to detect inpatient decline. Evaluated the performance of this risk score, called Advanced Alert Monitor (AAM). Compared its performance against other EWSs (eCART and NEWS). AAM showed better sensitivity, specificity, NPV, PPV and c-statistic. AAM takes advantage of multiple data streams now available in modern EMRs.
