We characterized a LEAP-2 homolog (BpLEAP-2) from the mudskipper. BpLEAP-2 mRNA expression in fish rapidly responded to Edwardsiella tarda infection. BpLEAP-2 increased fish survival and deceased bacterial load during infection. BpLEAP-2 induced chemotaxis of MO/MФ and enhanced cell bacterial killing activity.
