The effect of covalently bonded organic molecules on silicon surface is studied.
Organic monolayer of 1-dodecyne is formed on (100) p-type silicon surface by simple chemistry.
Gold-Silicon and Aluminum-Silicon Schottky junctions are formed on both unmodified and chemically modified semiconductor.
Charge transport of the above junctions is systematically studied.
The molecular modification is effective in controlling the surface state and hence the junction responds to the change in work function of contacting metal.
