The tertiary amine (TIOA) mixture with ketone (2-octanone) possesses synergistic properties in rhenium(VII) solvent extraction from sulphate media. The synergistic enhancement factor for the Re(VII) extraction achieved 3.1.

Rhenium(VII) solvent extraction with the tertiary amine and ketone mixture is the most efficient when carried out from weakly acidic sulphate solutions (pH = 2-3).

Unlike the traditional amine-based extractants containing alcohols as modifiers, the ones containing ketone are capable of extracting rhenium(VII) from weakly alkaline sulphate solutions (рН ~ 7-9).

Rhenium stripping from the extracts is possible with 3 mol/L ammonia solution in 2-3 stages.
