Detecting prediabetes among Hispanics/Latinos from diverse heritage groups: Does the test matter? Findings from the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos
Over a third of U.S. Hispanic adults are at increased risk for diabetes mellitus. A significant percent of individuals younger than age 45 met prediabetes criteria. FPG plus HbA1c were more sensitive at detecting prediabetes than either test alone. Cardiovascular risk factors were highly prevalent across prediabetes categories. Cardiovascular risk factors were highly prevalent in both men and women.
