In India diurnally sub periodic form of lymphatic filariasis (LF) is endemic only in the Nicobar district.
A programme to eliminate LF in Andaman & Nicobar Islands was launched in 2004. Ten rounds of mass drug administration have been accomplished.
The pattern of drug distribution and compliance were assessed during the past four rounds.
Persistence of infection is a challenge to the LF elimination programme.
Elimination of diurnally sub periodic LF is an achievable and desirable goal.
