Mercury contamination in Southern New England coastal fisheries and dietary habits of recreational anglers and their families: Implications to human health and issuance of consumption advisories
Mercury of harvestable fish varied by species and often exceeded advisory values. Mercury in target fish muscle tissue increased with total length. Recreational anglers and families self-reported high levels of fish consumption. Anglers and families often had mercury exposure exceeding reference dose values. Geographic-specific data are needed to develop meaningful consumption advisories.
