The existing approaches of analyzing the effects of network-induced delays on these communication-based power control approaches are summarized and compared in terms of the deterministic and stochastic methodologies. A variety of methodologies to compensating the network-induced delays are reviewed and compared in terms of design difficulty and level of robustness. Regarding the stability analysis and control of smart grids, several important research challenges are summarized.
