We prove the relevance for the technique that considers the fluid dynamics in partially filled gaps.

Different topographical scenarios (academic surfaces and rough surfaces) are investigated.

The relevance of incorporating elastic deformations in combination with global filling ratios is discussed.

The correlation between elastic deformations, global filling ratio, maximum pressures and mean pressures is highly nonlinear.

The formation of air volume due to elastic deformations and fluid transport is discussed.
