Multiple myeloma is an aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma with diffuse or multilocular bone marrow infiltration by myeloma cells. The etiology so far is unknown. Nonspecific symptoms include B symptoms, bone pain, renal dysfunction and hematopoietic changes. Radiographical changes with osteolysis are typically seen in the skull, pelvis and ribs. Pathological fractures occur frequently. The first manifestation in the maxillofacial region is rare. If unclear bone pain and painful osteolytic lesions in the jaws are reported, a more accurate radiological and pathological diagnosis should be performed to exclude solitary plasmacytoma or multiple myeloma.
