Cellulose-based surfactant is a kind of polymeric compound with both hydrophilic and lipophilic groups,which has the properties of lowering surface(interfacial) tension,wetting,emulsifying,foaming and washing.Epoxidized soybean oil(ESO) and hydroxyethyl cellulose(HEC) were used as raw materials and were homogeneous mixing through a homogenizer.SnCl_4 was added into the mixture as a catalyst.The reaction temperature and reaction time were 25℃ and 20 min,respectively.ESO modified HEC surfactants(ESO-HEC) were obtained through purification.The chemical structure and properties of ESO-HEC were characterized by FT-IR,NMR and TG.The properties of ESO-HEC-stabilized oil-in-water emulsions were studied.ESO-HEC-stabilized oil-in-water emulsions were prepared by blending 50%w/w soybean oil and 50%w/w ESO-HEC aqueous solution(0.01、0.1、0.5、0.8 and 1 g/L) together using a rotor-stator at 15000 rpm for 3 min.The emulsion stability,size determination,rheology behavior,surfactant behavior were investigated through ESO-HEC-stabilized oil-in-water emulsions under the condition of different ESO-HEC concentrations.
