The Basin and Range Dixie Valley Geothermal Wellfield, Nevada, USA—A test bed for developing an Enhanced Geothermal System exploration favorability methodology

•The geoscientific data for the Dixie Valley Geothermal system ca. 2011 is re-examined and re-interpreted to formulate an Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS) exploration favorability methodology which is calibrated with available well data.•Geostatistical relationships between various geoscience parameters are examined and evaluated with respect to predicting temperature, lithology, productive vs. non-productive hydrothermal cells and expected EGS favorable cells. A cell is defined as a 0.5 km × 0.5 km region in the subsurface.•Favorability and trust (confidence in the data used) maps are presented for identifying EGS drilling targets at a grid cell scale of 0.5 km by 0.5 km for 0.5 km incremental horizontal slices between 1 km asl and −4 km asl.
