酒题材创作——菲茨杰拉德式的救赎之道

摘要
菲茨杰拉德擅长刻画纵酒狂欢的场面和神形毕肖的酗酒者,酒是其作品中出现频率最高的题材,它不仅是酗酒者的忠实伴侣也是其堕落之源。新潮女郎的饮酒行为是对男性权威的一大挑战和女性构建新女性身份的象征,实际上构成了新道德观、新伦理观的一项具体内容。酗酒具有时代道德幻灭之隐喻,菲茨杰拉德通过写作从沉沦酒精中找到了自我救赎和重生的途径,作家的自我救赎之道或许是他那个时代许多人的自我救赎之道。
Fitzgerald is skilled at depicting drunken revels and vivid alcoholics. Alcohol is the most frequent subject in his works which is alcoholics' loyal companion and their source of degradation as well. Flappers' alcohol drinking behavior which challenges the male authority and symbolizes the identity of New Women actually is a concrete substance of new morality and new ethics. Alcoholism is endowed with a metaphorical meaning of moral disillusionment in his age and enables the writer to obtain self-redemption and rebirth in writing. Fitzgerald's way to self-redemption could also be a way to self-redemption for many others.
