///In this paper, a comparison of the differences in morphological features is made between the pits found in Mountain Laoshan and the true glacier potholes in other places of the world, showing that the so-called glacial potholes of Mountain Laoshan do not have the features created by subglacial fluvial erosion but have all the features a weathering pit should have, such as flat bottom, spill way, over hanging sides and so on.  This paper also replys to questions about weathering pit formation which are raised by the same persons and points out that the main cause for mistaking weathering pits for glacial potholes is a lack of geomorphologic knowledge to distinguish weathering and erosion processes, which includes the stream erosion and subglacial fluvial erosion.
