Based on tectonic features and ETM satellite images, following the idea of the geologist Li Siguang, the authors attempt to establish a new principle of massive division for China mainland. Then the Chinese mainland is subdivided into 28 first-order massifs, and a map of massifs and basins across the mainland is compiled. The authors suggest that mutual push and relative motions are undergoing between these blocks, with a general pattern that the massifs in the north are moving toward south and those in the west are drifting to the east.Statistics indicates that most of the large-and intermediate-sized metal deposits are located on the eastern and southern sides of blocks, which are the fronts of moving massifs, especially the leading edges of the curved sutures. Finally, the authors proposed to search for large metal deposits in sutures between massifs or major structures within massifs.
