The tectonic framework of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River was established based on multi-scale edge detection using regional magnetic and gravimetric data and integrated with analysis of magnetotelluric profiling and geological information. According to gravity and magnetic multi-scale edge detection, the distribution and location of the fault system was redefined, the exact boundary of volcanic basin such as Nanjing-Wuhu and Lujiang-Zongyang , etc. were confirmed, and the plate border were also devised. The authors consider that the extending to the east of the Yangtze fault zone and its continuation pass through Anqing, north of Tongling, Wuhu, Maanshan, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Nantong and sea waters of eastern the East China Sea. Considering the relationship between ore-concentrating district and tectonic framework of the Middle and Lower Reach of the Yangtze River, the authors consider that the deep fracture of Yangtze River is caused by the upwarping of mantle.
