Aiming at the contradiction between coal mining and water resource protection in Shennan mining area, through field investigation data, borehole data and water injection data, the paper analyzed the distribution characteristics of water resources, material content characteristics of soil layer and the role of engineering geological conditions in protection of phreatic water of sand layer in the study area. According to geomorphologic characteristics, the study area was further divided into six zones, i.e., water leakage zone of Liangmao, not influence zone of Liangmao, zone of serious water leakage, zone of normal water leakage, zone of light water leakage and not influenced zone of shaoly land. The results of this study can provide scientific basis for protection of regional water and ecological environments.
