摘要
The chemical composition of the middle Pleistocene vermicular red clay from the Western Sichuan Plain shows that the oxides of SiO2 , Fe2O3 and Al2O3 are three dominant components, which has an average of 90.92% totally. The authors suggest that the vermicular red clay in western Sichuan Province underwent the strong chemical weathering in a hot and humid environment when red clay formed, and the paleoclimatic environment in the western Sichuan Province is similar to that in the middle-lower Yangtze area during the middle Pleistocene.
