In this paper, the advancement of the bio- stratigraphic study of the Bashkirian-Moscovian boundary beds at Luokun section in Guizhou, South China is introduced and discussed in detail. The exposed strata of the Bashkirian-Moscovian boundary interval at this section represent slope deposits containing relatively abundant fusulinids and conodonts. The important biostratigraphic marks of the base o{ Moscovian such as Streptog- nathodus expansus , Idiognathoides postsulcatus , Profusulinella atin; mso-fareast-font-family: 宋体; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family: calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin">(Aljutovellaatin; mso-fareast-font-family: 宋体; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family: calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin">) aljutovica, Pro. prisca and Eofusulina were all found at this section. Based on the distribution of the fusulinids and conodonts around the base-Moscovian boun- dary and on the global correlation, we propose the first appearance of the advanced form of Streptog- nathodus expansus as the base of the Moscovian at Luokun section, which is close to the first appear- ance of ProfusulineHa prisca and Pro. aljutovi- ca. The latter two can be used as auxiliary marker. This research will be much useful on the definition of the base of the Global Moscovian Stage. A ma- jor effort will be devoted to the continued study of the eonodonts and fusulinlds within the Bashklrian- Moscovian transitional interval in the Luokun section.
