Micro In Situ Identification of the Industrial Beryllium Mineral in the Beryllium Deposit, Xinjiang, China

The occurrence of the beryllium mineral in the beryllium deposit in the Xinjiang Province is identified and tested by combination of electron probe micro-analyzer and micro X-ray diffractometer. Firstly, the identification markers of the beryllium mineral on the observation of back-scatted image is determined and the quality analysis of energy dispersive spectrometry are as follows: 1) the brightness of the beryllium mineral in back-scatted image is lower than that of quartz; 2) only the peaks of silicium and oxygen are displayed in the X-ray spectrum; and  3) tpeak height of oxygen is higher than that of silicium. The Kα peak of Be element emerges at 177.384 mm analyzed by LDE3H analyzing crystal. The semi-quantitative results show that the contents of Si and O elements are 21.93% and 60.06%, respectively, similar to the theoretical value [w(Si): 23.53%, w(O):60.50%] of bertrandite.
