The reservoir characteristics of PY35-2 area of Panyu-Liuhua Gasfield in Pearl River Month Basin are complex, it is difficult to predict gas-bearing area by conventional technologies. To effectively identify reservoir and improve exploration success rate, based on detailed analysis on the petrophysical characteristics, 3D prestack simultaneous inversion was used to identify reservoir and its fluid properties. The result shows that the density can recognize the main reservoir of PY35-2 area. Meanwhile, the inversion result can well distinguish gas reservoir and watered reservoir, and decrease the risk of exploration. The obtained anomaly plane distribution of density was used to predict the favourable drilling target in the area, which was proved by the well deployed by the prediction result.
