Based on the Milankovitch theory, outcrop sections and cores are analyzed with methods such as geochemistry, spectrum analysis, and time-sequence analysis to study the complex responses of orbital forcing to sedimentary records. Meter-scale cycle has being used as the basic stratigraphic unit of cyclostratigraphy, which has similarities and differences with parasequence of sequence stratigraphy. The recognition and application of high time-resolution sub-Milankovitch cycle signals is considered to be the latest advance of cyclostratigraphy and the growth point of sedimentology and stratigraphy.
