An Arguement with Academician SHI Yafeng on the Genesis of "Glacial Potholes" Formed by Granite Negative Spheroidal Weathering
Academician SHI Yafeng recently published a paper titled “Comments on the moulin argument provided by Mr. Han Tonglin, a misunderstanding of granite negative spheroidal weathering” on the journal of Geological Review, related the origin of the glacial potholes, which found in Eeast China, to the so-called “negative spheroidal weathering”, instead of glacial traces. But the “negative spheroidal weathering” origin is in direct contrast to the Climatic environmental conditions and the facts. Glacial potholes are the surfacial hollows and thus are not ideal sites for erosion but the sites for sedimentation in the modern time. Potholes can not be formed by wind, rivers, as well as so-called “negative spheroidal weathering”.
