The fKdV model equation is employed in this paper to simulate numerically the surface water waves in a single- layer flow under the condition of 2—D.The results of the simula—tion show that in the resonant region the generation of the precursor solitons is sim ilar to those of T.Y.Wu (1987) and S.J.Lee et a1.(1989).Between the resonant point and the SU—percritial turning point there exists a prilim inary instable soliton with a single crest for each F,(Froude number) and its am plitude increases with time. When F.approaches the resonant point the instable soliton will generally split into precursor solitons ,and when F ,is close to the upercritical turning point it will eventually break.W hen F ,exceeds the supercritical turning point,a stable supercritical soliton would come into being.Though this stable soli—ton was obtained by using a time-dependent equation ,its am plitude does not change with time. This sort of soliton sustains over the site of the forcing and its am plitude decays with the increase of the Froude numbe r.Due to its difference fro m the free KdV soliton ,it is named as the supercritical stationary soliton in the present paper.
