摘要

In 1990，the first edition Geological Map of China (1 -5,000,000)，compiled by senior academician Cheng Yuqi, was formally published. The data was up to the end of 1988. In the autumn of 1999, Cheng considered that, in the 10 years ever since the publication of the map, China has made great achievement in the regional geological survey, and accumulated huge volumes of new data; it is necessary to update the map.
