Structural evolution of zonal metamorphic sequences in the southern Chinese Altai and relationships to Permian transpressional tectonics in the Central Asian Orogenic Belt
Two episodes of folding (D1 and D2) were recognized in the southern Chinese Altai. D1 and D2 relate to the development of kyanite- and andalusite-type metamorphic zones. D1 and D2 are responsible for the burial and exhumation of metamorphic rocks. Syn-D2 andalusite-type metamorphic zones result from transpressional tectonics.
