Modulation of attention by socio-emotional scenes in children with autism spectrum disorder

We examined attentional biases in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We employed a dot-probe task with emotional vs. neutral scenes. Threatening scenes captured greater attention in ASD than in control participants. Biases toward threatening scenes in ASD may disrupt social skill acquisition.
