Belt hosts c. 1300 Ma gabbroic and peridotitic sills emplaced in a rift or distal back-arc.

Sills crystallised from basalt with 8.8% MgO, 185 ppm Ni, 51 ppm Cu, and <2 ppb PGE.

Fraser basalts are parental to Nova Ni–Cu deposit.

Nova deposit consists of gabbroic–peridotitic sill complex.
